6. Society by Eddie Vedder. The soundtrack from the movie: Into the Wild. I love starting the semester with this video (again student produced) and the lyrics ooze sociology! Pay special attention to the “sociological perspective’ in your Chapter 1 reading.

okay so i saw all the videos … in the matter that I progressed… each video was more interesting and each was more thought provoking. It is a sad reality, one I hypocritically also follow, but as technology evolves getting getting us closer to the information in the whole world but at the same time it is pulling us apart form each other. I mean there must be SOME reason why we say that our phones are smarter than us. YET, It is so much easier sending a text rather than giving a call or writing a get-well and/ or christmas card. What do you think?

The other day I had to diffuse a difficult business situation and I chose to handle the matter over email. The situation then escalated and had to be resolved over the phone. You made some excellent observations.

The videos were all very informative and really quite sad. As I was watching these videos my emotion were stirred up and I began to cry, for this same reason I would never sit in a class room and be given this same information. I think that was one on the videos points. We are either unwilling or maybe even able to communicate the human experience with one another. This is the reasons I am taking this class and have chosen Sociology as my major. I want to know why?

I watched each video and each one made me a bit more upset then the last video. These videos made me realize how much we have and how much we take without realizing how lucky we truly are. I am very intrested to go thorugh this semester and learn more about these topics!

Seeing this video gave me an idea of what sociology is, its a broad field that goes beyond the surface but inside of what is really going on behind that surface. The way humans function and why we do why we do their are problems we must deal with but did we cause the problems. The problems were already their we are just stuck with them and who knows maybe technology can help Earth Society be a better place.

All of the videos shown were a reality to me. I have a better perspective of sociology now. The video “A Vision of Sudents Today” annoyed me, fellow students do talk, text, and search the web on social sites during class. It’s a distraction to me and I wish they had respect for their fellow students. I want to understand society better, I feel like im narrow minded.

These videos has helped to understand that I didn’t have a cue of sociology was all about. I was just taking this class because it was required to transfer to a University. I have come to realize this class and the information I will learn will broaden my understanding far more than I first thought. That’s why it is so important to continue your education. INFORMATION!!!!!!!
